    • California, Georgia, Michigan, New York, Texas, and Georgia successfully implemented a pavement-preservation program.
    • Rehabilitation and reconstruction projects cost about 14 times as much as preventive maintenance projects per lane-mile.
    • Michigan has enjoyed a cost savings of more than $700 million since 1992.
    • Preventive maintenance treatments can extend its service life by 5 to 7 years.

    Maintain systemwide PCI at or above 82 by applying a variety of cost-effective maintenance treatments. By applying the right treatment at the right time, the City can lower costs by reducing the need for future roadway rehabilitation.
